- Oberammergau Passion Play 2010 - First Church Pilgrimage
In July 2010, 14 members and friends of First Church fulfilled a dream and traveled to Oberammergau, Germany to see the Passion Play. The 11 day trip included stays in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and German. Before attending the Passion Pay, trip highlights included a boat ride to an island dinner, a visit to Lake Lugano, a cog railway trip to view the Matterhorn, a ride on the famous Glacier Express Railway to St. Moritz, touring Innsbruck and Salzburg, viewing the Glockenspeil in Munich.

- Unite For Sight - Daniel Mazzaferro travels to Ghana
My journey to Ghana, Africa was insightful and powerful through the new vision I could see through the people that we helped along with my own personal experience. I traveled to Africa with a non-profit organization, Unite For Sight, whose mission is to provide eye care, screening, glasses and cataract surgeries to those in extreme poverty. Before my journey I collected over 1,000 glasses and sunglasses, and raised $2,595 that will provide 52 patients with free cataract surgeries. First Congregational Church and the Board of Outreach offered me a Salt and Light Grant, which assisted me in the mandatory funds that I was required to raise.
Each long day of traveling to distant outreaches to screen communities included many memories and stories of the patients feeling blessed and thankful for our volunteer services. Whether it was providing patients with reading glasses or operating on a cataract lens, these people could now see the world in a new way often not only impacting their lives, but also impacting the village as a whole.
After seeing the conditions these Africans live in and their ability to still exist with very little luxuries and even basic necessities, it has impacted the way I appreciate and value the basic needs that are provided to most Americans for the opportunity to flourish. There are many people even in the United States that do not have a home, job or medical intervention which it is why we should continue as a church and individually to continue to help those less fortunate. God has led me on this journey to help others with my medical knowledge and desire, and I know that my passion to serve will continue to grow as I do.

- 30 Hour Famine
The 30 Hour Famine is a World Vision charity program that allows young people to make a significant impact on the problem of world hunger while growing closer to God and to each other. By going without food for 30 hours, we raised funds and gained an understanding of how it feels to experience hunger. We constructed makeshift cardboard shelters on Saturday afternoon. The youth along with adult supervision slept out in their cardboard shelters on Saturday night. During our famine we collected cans of food to donated them to local food banks.
